Effective Maritime Rescue and Civil Guard have intercepted at dawn last pateras five waters of the Alicante towns of Santa Pola, Benidorm, Pilar de la Horadada and Alfaz of the Pi, with 59 migrants on board in total, two of they are minors, as reported by Red Cross sources .
The first of the boats was located in Cala Ximo in Benidorm at 01:07, with 11 people on board , all of them men of legal age and of Algerian origin and in apparent good health.
An hour later, at 02.13 hours, the rescue personnel received a warning that warned of the arrival of another boat , in this case at the Vistamar beach in Pilar de la Horadada. The Civil Guard has located at 0320 hours the 12 men who were traveling on the boat, all Algerians and in good health.
At 04.13 hours, Maritime Rescue personnel have located a new boat on the coast of Santa Pola , with 14 people on board of Algerian origin, all of them men except one under 17 years of age.
At 07.12 hours another boat was intercepted in the Racó de l’Albir , in l’Alfàs del Pi, in this case with 14 people on board (a woman, a minor and 12 men), all of them of Algerian origin and in good health.
Finally, a fifth boat has been located in Higuerica Beach , in Pilar de la Horadada, with eight people on board (seven men and one woman) also of Algerian origin and in good health.
All the people arriving on the boats during the early morning have been treated in the port of Alicante to evaluate their health status and carry out PCR tests to detect possible cases of coronavirus , as contemplated by the sanitary protocol in these cases.
