    If you look at job advertisements Investment Banking, Corporate Finance and Equity Research roles usually are four things in the complement of employment required:

    Financial modeling skills;
    Graduate Studies;
    Relevant experience;
    Top grade levels;
    Let's talk about these four criteria in detail a little more (in reverse order):

    Home Undergraduate Degrees: Some companies are more strict in this other than as a student and implementing a graduate program to enter the support package that is basically a necessity. If you do not have the best grades are my recommendations for the two networks like crazy and trying to meet someone in a position of power in the company you are targeting, do something entrepreneurial is impressive enough to overcome the lack of qualifications , or look in the face of a commercial bank to start with and for one of their programs of Corporate Finance (easier on the scores of IB by a long way ...). Otherwise, you need experience or a graduate degree to help your resume along ...

    Relevant Experience: I started at a commercial bank while studying law at the University and not in principle have the knowledge of Finance to enter an IB. Once in the program graduate commercial banking quickly identifies parts of the company did a similar job to a function of investment banking and went to a job in research and structuring credit transactions in a relationship Institutional Banking business. This strategy paid off as much of the analysis in the Institutional Banking business relationship (in research and structuring credit anyway ... Deal) is the understanding of the capacity and the value of the debt of a company, which is also a component of investment Banking, Corporate Finance and Equity Research roles. From there go to corporate finance and debt affected was not a big jump. General functions junior analyst, IB, Corporate Finance and Equity Analysis require a couple of years of experience, and relationship banking can be a great place to get this experience.

    Investment banking may take several forms, depending on where the course is being taught, what aspect of investment banking is being covered, and whether or not the training is focused on a degree or certification program. Some investment banking classes are taught in traditional classroom environments, hosted by universities, technical schools, or training companies. Other courses are taught online, using websites with audio or video to convey the lessons, information, and tests from the teacher to the students. For students whose schedules do not allow for regular training sessions, there are also self-study packages available for self-guided investment banking training.

    Financial modeling is crucial to the finance industry. Wall Street investment banks rely on financial models to make investment banking decisions and advise clients. However, financial modeling is not only seen in investment banking careers, and related arenas of finance, such as hedge funds, private equity and venture capital.

However, financial modeling is not only seen in investment banking careers, and related arenas of finance, such as hedge funds, private equity and venture capital. Nearly all aspects of the finance profession are closely related to financial modeling. This is because the financial model is the main tool used for valuation and associated predictions about potential and actual investments, whether they be common stocks, complex derivatives or whole companies considered for a leveraged buyout
