Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) wins the CFA Institute Research Challenge India West Zone Final
Mumbai, November 23, 2012 – Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai has emerged as the winner of the CFA Institute Research Challenge India West Zone Final (www.iaipirc.org), after competing with six other student teams from leading business schools on the subject company ‘HDFC Bank’. The competition organized by the Indian Association of Investment Professionals (IAIP) and is supported by National Stock Exchange (NSE) (www.nseindia.com), Bloomberg (www.bloomberg.com), Bloomberg TV (www.bloombergtv.com, www.yourmoneysite.com) and Corporate Bridge (www.educorporatebridge.com) as sponsors and long-term corporate partners. The panel of judges were Navneet Munot, CFA, Chief Investment Officer, SBI Funds Management Pvt. Ltd.; Chetan Shah, CFA, Senior Portfolio Manager, Religare’s PMS division; and Jatinder Agarwal, Equity Research Analyst, CIMB Securities India.
“We are pleased with the successful culmination of the West Zone competition that has been underway over the past few months. The teams have exhibited solid financial analysis and research abilities in conducting equity research, as well as showcasing their investment research and recommendations to the panel of judges. We are building up to host the India National Final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge in January where the five zonal winning teams will compete for two places to represent India in the Asia Pacific regional final scheduled in February 2013,” said Kishor Bagri, CFA, Director, Indian Association of Investment Professionals (IAIP).
CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual, global educational initiative promoting the best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills. Due to the increasing participation, IAIP has kicked off its local competitions across five zones in India, and over 40 leading business schools are participating.
Other participating teams in the West Zone Final included JBIMS Mumbai, IIT Bombay, NITIE Mumbai, Sydenham Institute Mumbai, KJ Somaiya Mumbai, and Chetana’s Institute of Management & Research.

About CFA Institute Research Challenge
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global competition which tests the analytic, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills of university students. Students have the unique opportunity to develop and present an equity research report and be mentored and judged by leading industry experts. Local CFA Institute member societies host and launch local competitions involving teams of three to five business and finance students from participating universities who work directly with a local company in researching and preparing a company analysis. The local winning teams will advance to the respective regional finals held in Asia Pacific; Europe, Middle East & Africa; Americas; and New York regions. The regional winners will then advance to the global final in the hopes of being crowned the global champion.
