    It's enough to pass as you don't get a 90% or 80% in the scorecard. However if you fail, they give you a band and indicate whether you were top 60% or 80% etc. among the people who failed.

    Ok. What was the approx. % weightage of the various topics in the exam? This will help to score & prepare better for d exam.

    An approximate breakdown of the different topic areas for the Level I exam is as follows:

    * Ethical and Professional Standards, 15%

    * Investment Tools, 50%
    o Quantitative Analysis/Methods, 12%
    o Economics, 10%
    o Financial Reporting and Analysis, 20%
    o Corporate Finance, 8%

    * Asset Valuation, 30%
    o Equity Investments, 10%
    o Fixed Income, 12%
    o Derivatives, 5%
    o Alternative Investments, 3%

    * Portfolio Management and Wealth Planning, 5%

    The Level I exam mainly emphasizes investment tools (50% of the exam) and the fundamentals of asset valuation (30%). Generally, the largest single topic on the Level I exam is Financial Statement Analysis, which includes Corporate Finance.

    @ Vivek: But they do mention if you've scored above 70% in all areas isn't it?....and they also mention the overall score in % right??....something like >70%/ 50-70%/ <50%(fail)....this is what I'm aware of...

    Yes, you are right.
    They give your score ranges for all the sections. You wont get the exact score but whether it falls <50%, 50-70% or >70%.
